Meet Vanja

Vanja Vukelic is a Bosnian-born, Toronto-based artist, whose work exists at the intersection of nature, folklore, and abstraction—a nexus where the feminine and the natural world converge.

Through her bold depictions of plant and folk-inspired figures, Vukelic speaks to the hidden pulse of life, tapping into the forces that weave us all together. Her art carries an undercurrent of reverence—for the earth, for the wisdom it holds, and for the spirit that shapes creation.

Informed by her personal experiences of the Bosnian War, Slavic folklore, plant medicine, and practices like dream-tending, her art delves into concepts of mysticism and spirituality.

Vanja’s practice incorporates a diverse range of mediums, including watercolors, inks, acrylics, pastels, and earth pigments.

Her art has been expressed on the skin of women around the world and is commissioned by private collectors, businesses, and brands for its emotional depth and symbolic composition.
